Day 8: Drive to the Ourika Valley

Day 8 we traveled to the foothills of the Atlas mountains to visit an organic Berber herb garden.  On the way we stopped at the Ourika Valley, which was covered in snow for the first time in over 20 years!
The outskirts of Marrakesh.  The city is growing rapidly.  You can see the Atlas mountains in the distance below.

The clouds parted just long enough for us to glimpse Toubkal, the highest peak in Morocco at 13,671ft.

 We quickly gain elevation.

Roadside camels.  Our guide could not believe all of the snow!

Ourika Valley.  This hotel was supposed to be our tea and restroom stop, but their pipes had burst!
Another hotel came to our rescue and we had tea next to the stream.

This village overlooks this snow-lined mountain stream.

It was windy and cold, but so lovely!
