One of my favorite things about a motor coach tour is getting to watch the changing landscape as we travel from one part of a country to to another. Day 6 took us from the coast of Casablanca to the central interior of Marrakesh at the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.
The area west of Casablanca is flat and fertile farmland
Lots of green, with the red Moroccan soil visible beneath the crops.
The Oasis Cafe rest stop. Always clean, well-supplied restrooms!
An oued, or wadi. February is the rainy season, so it is very full!
The flat landscape gives way to gently rolling hills, and a more arid climate.
You can see the mountains rising up in the background.
Hills are getting bigger!
We arrive in Marrakesh! This is the new part of the city. Like all other cities in Morocco the new, modern development is separate from the Medina (older, walled city).
You can see the snow-covered Atlas mountains in the distance.

View from our hotel room--the palm trees make it look like it was warmer than it was. Never got out of the 40s!
