Day 7: Marrakesh City Tour: Saadian Tombs and Koutoubia Mosque
The Saadian tombs are sepulchres which date to the time of the Saadian dynasty (1578-1603). They were discovered in 1917 and contain the remains of approximately sixty members of the dynasty.
The narrow passageway to the mausoleum.You can see the older, original wall that surrounded the tombs. They were refurbished after their discovery, and so now look newer.
The tombs had been buried to protect them from looters. You can see how high up the soil was on these ancient palms.
