Day 5: Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church
Built 35 years before Hassan II mosque, but just as modern in design, Notre Dame de Lourdes is known for its striking stained glass windows. There are over 20,000 Catholics in Morocco and this is one of two churches in the city of Casablanca.
A simple cross is the only indication this is a church.
The stained glass gives off a lovely pastel glow.
The windows are the work of French artist Gabriel Loire, and used the colors of typical Moroccan carpets.
A miniature Notre Dame (Paris) is in this panel.
