A Riad in Fes
Words can not describe our gorgeous Fes accommodations. Good thing I took pictures.
A riad is defined by 5 characteristics: a square courtyard, open to the sky, with garden, fountain, and zellij tile. We have square coutyard with pool and tile. Check, check, and check.
Plenty of plants. Check.
There's the open sky! Final check!
A tiled seating area off the main receiving room. Note the picture of the King.
And here's the royal family! Seriously, they love this king.
Gorgeous front staircase. You can see the impressive brass front door to the right.
Marble, zellij tile, and cedar wood.
Now that's a chandelier!
Zellij tile, carved and painted cedar wood, and carved plaster.
The fountain from the third floor.
The view from our room's door.
Five stories!
Our mezzanine.
What these pictures can't tell is how chilly it was! Fes was about 20 degrees colder than usual, and our riad's heat struggled to keep up. Great sleeping weather, though!
Yup, that was our ceiling.
Stained glass windows in our room.
My feet on vacation.
